Film Types and Why APC Installs Ceramic IR

Window films use different constructions, including dyed, metalized, carbon, and ceramic technologies. APC installs Ceramic Pro Ceramic IR film because its non-metallic ceramic construction provides heat and infrared rejection, UV protection, glare reduction, appearance and privacy benefits without interfering with common vehicle communication signals. The practical choice is not a universal good, better, best ranking; it is the film that provides the performance, shade, and signal compatibility the customer wants.

VLT and heat rejection describe different things. Visible light transmission tells you how much light passes through the glass and therefore how dark the finished window appears. Heat and infrared rejection describe thermal performance, so a lighter Ceramic IR shade can still provide meaningful heat and UV benefits. Compare shade and performance separately when choosing film.

Windshield Tint and Washington Law

APC offers 70% Ceramic IR film, including customer-requested windshield applications. A light 70% shade does not by itself make full-windshield tint legal in Washington. Customers are responsible for selecting a configuration that complies with applicable law; APC can review the options before installation.

Installation and Aftercare

After installation, keep the windows rolled up for 2-5 days. The exact no-roll-down period depends on temperature and moisture/weather conditions; cooler, wetter Pacific Northwest conditions can require more time than warm, dry conditions. This is separate from complete film curing, and remaining installation moisture or haze may take longer to clear.

Aftercare and Warranty

Ceramic Pro Ceramic IR film carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against covered film defects.

Installation or workmanship concerns must be reported to APC within 14 days of installation. This reporting period is separate from the manufacturer's film warranty.

Window Tint FAQ

How much does window tint cost at APC Auto Spa?

Two to Match, which tints just the front two windows to match factory rear privacy glass, is $190. Standard Tint covers the four side windows, small glass included, plus the back glass and is $450. Large Tint covers six side windows plus the back glass and is $550. Extra glass and removal of old tint are quoted separately. Those prices are firm - we don't charge more for an exotic than we do for a commuter car. Anything outside the categories listed, like a Sprinter van, is custom quoted.

What tint film do you use?

Ceramic Pro Ceramic IR window tint. Its non-metallic ceramic construction provides heat rejection, blocks 99.9% of UV and rejects up to 98% of infrared energy on the shades we stock, reduces glare, and does not interfere with phone, GPS, Bluetooth, or satellite radio signals. Ceramic Pro Ceramic IR film carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against covered film defects.

What shades do you carry, and which is legal in Washington?

We stock 15%, 25%, 35%, and 70% VLT (visible light transmission; the lower the number, the darker the film). Washington sets different limits by window position and vehicle type. APC offers 70% Ceramic IR film, including customer-requested windshield applications. A light 70% shade does not by itself make full-windshield tint legal in Washington. Customers are responsible for selecting a configuration that complies with applicable law; APC can review the options before installation. Use the tint legality calculator on this page to check your combination before you book.

How long does installation take?

One to four hours depending on how many windows are being tinted. A Two to Match is usually done within an hour or two; a full Large Tint on an SUV takes the longest.

Does ceramic tint really keep the car cooler?

Ceramic IR film is designed to reject infrared heat, helping reduce heat entering the cabin. VLT describes how dark the film appears, not its heat rejection. A 70% film is a very light option that can still provide heat and UV benefits.

Will tint interfere with my phone, GPS, or radio?

Ceramic Pro Ceramic IR film has non-metallic construction designed to remain compatible with cell, GPS, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and toll-transponder signals.

Do you tint Teslas and other EVs?

Yes. We tint all makes and models, including Tesla and Rivian. Large single-piece glass and panoramic roofs are quoted individually.

How are the film warranty and installation concerns handled?

Ceramic Pro Ceramic IR film carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against covered film defects. Installation or workmanship concerns must be reported to APC within 14 days of installation. This reporting period is separate from the manufacturer's film warranty.
