Question 1

What is Paint Protection Film (PPF) and what does it do?

Accepted Answer

Paint Protection Film (PPF), also known as clear bra, is a thermoplastic urethane film applied to painted surfaces of a new or used car in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, scratches, road debris, and minor abrasions. It's designed to be optically clear and self-healing, maintaining your vehicle's pristine finish. APC Auto Spa uses premium STEK DYNOshield PPF.

Question 2

How long does Paint Protection Film last?

Accepted Answer

The lifespan of Paint Protection Film can vary depending on the quality of the film, installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality films like STEK DYNOshield, expertly installed by APC Auto Spa, typically come with a 10-year warranty, ensuring long-lasting protection for your vehicle.

Question 3

Will PPF cover existing scratches or swirl marks?

Accepted Answer

While PPF provides excellent protection against new damage, it's not designed to hide or remove existing scratches or swirl marks. For the best results, we recommend a paint correction service to remove imperfections before PPF installation. Our team at APC Auto Spa can assess your vehicle's paint and recommend the best preparation steps.

Question 4

Is Paint Protection Film detectable on the car's surface?

Accepted Answer

When properly installed by experienced technicians at APC Auto Spa, premium Paint Protection Film like STEK DYNOshield is virtually invisible. It is optically clear and conforms seamlessly to your vehicle's curves, providing protection without altering its appearance. While very close inspection might reveal edges, the goal is for it to be undetectable.

Question 5

What is the maintenance required for Paint Protection Film?

Accepted Answer

Maintaining PPF is straightforward. You can wash your car as usual, though it's best to avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes. The film often has hydrophobic properties, making cleaning easier. Regular washing and avoiding automatic car washes with spinning brushes will help preserve the film's clarity and longevity. Our team can provide specific care instructions after installation.

Question 6

What is the difference between PPF and Ceramic Coating?

Accepted Answer

PPF (Paint Protection Film) is a physical, self-healing barrier that protects against rock chips, scratches, and abrasions. A Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer applied to a vehicle's exterior that creates a chemical bond with the factory paint, adding a layer of hydrophobic protection against UV rays, chemicals, and contaminants, making cleaning easier and enhancing gloss. While they both protect, PPF offers superior impact protection against physical damage. Many clients opt for both for ultimate protection.
